Kili and I are back in Honolulu once again, so there is a definite possibility our little mochi girl will be getting her dose of chichidango to celebrate her special day. And as an added bonus, on the Studio Calico blog, I found this lovely treat. Papa was right when we found out we were going to have a girl. She is such a blessing. Happy Girls Day to you all.

the one where he turned 40-2 candles
Kili was such a delight. All she wanted to do was make it the most special day for her Daddy. She is an absolute Sweetheart. She insisted on gathering party decorations, hats and all, but I convinced her that preparing a birthday cake and special dinner would be more of Daddy's taste. She is such a people person, she just couldn't understand why we were not having a HUGE party at the house. Boy does she have a LOT to learn when it comes to the "Clark" way of things. Looks like we will need to adjust to her as she gets older...our Miss Social Butterfly!
Laya requested a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Kili couldn't get enough of the frosting we made from a Giada recipe. Hopefully in the next few days we will be able to get him a key-lime pie, one of his favorite desserts. We made an indoor picnic for dinner, which actually turned out to be a brilliant idea since Laya had to workout at night. It was best to have a "lunch" at dinner instead of something heavy. Giada again provided the inspiration: forest ham, pancheta, gruyere and apple panini hit the spot with veggies and pita chips.
Never one to draw attention to himself on his own birthday, Kili and I couldn't be more thrilled that this special guy was born and SHOULD believe he should be celebrated especially on his birthday. I try to remind him that every year. And I hope to be given that opportunity to do so in the future no matter what. Happy 38th, Sweetheart may God continue to Bless You in the many years to come.

the one where i ate it
Yup. Think I will have to chalk this up to Clark luck. Seriously, who EATS it on her first run of the year? Me. Lol! I do have to say I did it with style...perfect volleyball dive or shall I translate for my fam, homerun slide, hands leading, (haven't done that in YEARS) onto cement. Ouch...concrete has no give whatsoever.
Thank God for Lululemon. I would be much more "buss up" if it weren't for the best workout gear in the world. I stand on my soapbox proud, and no, not proud for biting it. Strawberries on my knees--no holes in my pants. Palms protected by my sleeves--no holes or tears in my shirt. I wasted major laughs for all to see, but no one was in sight! Unreal.
Here's what the boy aka smart-ass brother had to say about my debacle. "This is what happens when athleticism starts to depreciate. Lulu lemon is smart to make clothes for people who want and inspire to be athletes. They figure people like you will get hurt on non-contact activity.". Thanks dude. Here's the lady's aka mom's response. I asked her..do you know when the last time I actually fell??!!! "What? Two week ago." I tell ya, you wonder why I have such minimal confidence in myself...lol! Nah..sooo thankful these guys make me laugh. Oh crap, my bum ankle in hurting now. Lovely. Happy _____ New Year! You fill in the blank.

they've finally met!!!
Please forgive my amateur photography skills, but this has got to be my favorite photo of them so far...and there are soooo many more to come!!! Introducing....Kalena Noelle Clark!!!! I just love how Kili looks very grow up here, quite proud of her one and only baby cousin!! Sooooo exciting!! (ah yes, warning...many, MANY exclamation marks to follow! see?)

busy bee
I can't believe how busy the life of a three year old can be. Surprisingly, here she is sitting, going through her "treasures" and Valentines from school. Our days have been filled with playdates, going to paintshops, the park, birthday parties, dinner dates with Daddy, Kids Club at the gym, the library, cooking/baking with Mama (see loves watching Giada on the Food Network too btw!), putting on performances to her Chipmunk CD, and perfecting her penmanship to a tee!
Kili and Elsie loooove to dress up AND paint their faces with make up. She insisted on going to Whole Foods with this lip gloss all over her face. She later asked, "Mama, why is everyone looking at me?" Uhhh...maybe it's because you have red dots all over your face, Sweetheart!! lol!
Mama helped, but Kili did most of the work--grilled halibut in artichoke tomato broth, photo does not do the meal justice....it was delish!
true to form....our girl STILL loves to pick flowers!!

it's not easy being green
A great way to help spark inspiration is to participate in a challenge. Every week the American Crafts creative minds, come up with a different challenge, and this week is Green Week Challenge. The requirements are to create a layout or card using two or more green American Crafts products (love!)

girl on the move!
Without fail, this girl will NEVER forget to ask the wornout question, "Mama, what are we doing today?" or "Mama, after I go to sleep, what are we doing we when I wake up?" All replies must be answered with some activity!! For a homebody like myself, I have to admit, somedays this question sounds like nails on chalkboard. But how can I resist a face like this?
Tell you what...we have certainly been busy!! Aside from her scheduled pre-school and daily trips to Kids Club at the gym, we thankfully have been spending lots and lots of time with her BFF, Elsie and Elsie's wonderful family!
Kili had a blast at her birthday party earlier this month, and even more fun when she got Elsie all to herself at her home to follow. I couldn't be more happier to see their friendship blossom over these years! And they are still so little! LOL!
On non-school days, we have been taking trips to the bookstore, pottery paint shop, and the park. (will post some of those photos later! once uploaded from iphone)
This past weekend, the wind conditions seemed to be just right for Daddy to help Kili fly her first kite. You cannot believe how excited she was, especially since it was a Barbie kite...yes, Barbie. I say this with my hand over my eyes...LOL!
